The Easter feeling does not end.
It signals a new beginning,
Of nature, spring, and brand new life,
And friendship, peace, and giving.
The spirit of Easter is all about
Hope, love, and joyful living.

There is a green hill far away,
Beyond the city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified,
Who died to save us all.

We may not know, we can not tell,
What pains he had to bear;
We believe it was for us
He hung and suffered there.

He died that we might be forgiven;
He died to make us good,
That we might go to heaven,
Saved by His precious blood.

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin,
He only could unlock the gate,
Of heaven and let us in.

O dearly, dearly, He has loved,
We must love Him too,
Trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do

By Cecil Frances Alexander 1818-1895

Three guys were tried for crimes against humanity.
Two guys committed crimes.
One guy didn't.
Three guys were given government trials.
Two guys had fair trials.
One guy didn't.
Three guys were whipped and beaten.
Two guys had it coming.
One guy didn't.
Three guys were given crosses to carry.
Two guys earned their crosses.
One guy didn't.
Three guys were mocked and spit at along the way.
Two guys cursed and spit back.
One guy didn't.
Three guys were nailed to crosses.
Two guys deserved it.
One guy didn't.
Three guys agonized over their abandonment.
Two guys had reason to be abandoned.
One guy didn't.
Three guys talked while hanging on their crosses.
Two guys argued.
One guy didn't.
Three guys knew death was coming.
Two guys resisted.
One guy didn't.
Three guys died on three crosses.
Three days later.
Two guys remained in their graves.
One guy didn't.

Little jelly beans
Tell a story true.
A tale of Father's love
Just for me and you.

GREEN is for the waving palms.
YELLOW is for the sun above.
BROWN is for the soft earth where
People sat hearing of HIS love.

A SPECKLED bean for fish and sand.
RED for precious wine
and BLACK is for the sin He washed
From you soul and mine.

PURPLE's for the sadness of
HIS family and friends,
and WHITE is for the glory of the
Day HE rose again.

Now that you've heard the story
You know what each color means.
The story of our Father's love
Told by some jelly beans.
So every morning take a bean
They're really very yummy.
Something for the soul, you see
And something for the tummy.

Meeting the Easter Bunny

On Easter morn at early dawn
before the cocks were crowing
I met a bob-tail bunnykin
and asked where he was going.
"Tis in the house and out the house
a-tispy, tipsy-toeing,
Tis round the house and 'bout the house
a-lightly I am going."
"But what is that of every hue
you carry in your basket?"
"Tis eggs of gold and eggs of blue;
I wonder that you ask it.
"Tis chocolate eggs and bonbon eggs
and eggs of red and gray,
For every child in every house
on bonny Easter day."
He perked his ears and winked his eye
and twitched his little nose;
He shook his tail -- what tail he had --
and stood up on his toes.
"I must be gone before the sun;
the east is growing gray;
Tis almost time for bells to chime." --
So he hippety-hopped away.

By Rowena Bennett, 1930

Chocolate Rabbit

I got a chocolate rabbit
For an Easter treat,
A great big chocolate rabbit
Good enough to eat.

So I ate his ears on Sunday,
His nose I finished Monday.
Tuesday I nibbled on his feet.
I ate his tail on Wednesday
Thursday I kept on,
By Friday he was going,
Saturday he was gone.

Oh, I loved my chocolate rabbit
From the moment that he came,
And if I get another one,
I'll love him just the same.

Legend of the first Robin

One day, long ago, a little bird in Galilee saw a large crowd gathered around a Man carrying a heavy wooden cross. On the Man's head was a crown made from a thorn branch. The thorns were long a sharp. The little bird saw that the thorns were hurting the Man. It wanted to help Him, so it flew down and took the longest, sharpest thorn in its tine beak. The bird tugged and pulled until the thorn snapped from the branch. Then a strange thing happened. A drop of blood fell onto the bird's breast, staining it bright red. The stain never went away. And so today the robin proudly wears a red breast, because it helped a Man named Jesus.

Easter is the gift...

Easter is the gift of HOPE
Easter is the gift of PEACE
Easter is the gift of LOVE
Let us rejoice in Him,
Who gives them all.

May God bless you at Easter,
And keep you all year through.
May God give you all the faith it takes,
To make your dreams come true.
May His love and wisdom always help,
To guide you on your way.
May His light shine down upon you now,
To bless your Easter Day.

Rightly the lily is the flower of Easter. It lies buried in the ooze of pond or stream. There is nothing in the grave of the dead lily that appeals to nostril or eye. But silently the forces of life are working in the dark and the damp to prepare a glorious resurrection. A shaft of green shoots upward
toward the sun. This is followed by a cluster of tiny buds. One day the sun smiles with special warmth upon the dank, black ooze, and there leaps into the light a creature of light and beauty; it is the lily, an angel of the earth, whose look is light.

Jesus Christ is risen today,
Our triumphant holy day;
Who did once upon the cross
Suffer to redeem our loss.
Latin hymn

Dating from Easter, life took on a newness which made it a different kind of life not known before - life that will not be content until all the world comes alive. Despair is death, and despair faded from the minds of men who believed. Fear is death, and fear no longer invaded the still hours. Cowardice is death, and cowardice ceased to be a part of those who knew Easter.

Glenn H. Asquith

Easter so longed for is gone in a day.

 James Howell

The great Easter truth is not that we are to live newly after death - that is not the great thing - but that...we are to, and may, live nobly now because we are to live forever.

 Phillips Brooks

"On Easter Day the veil between time and eternity thins to gossamer."

Douglas Horton

"The soul's emphasis is always right"

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

"Prayer does not change God, but changes him who prays."

Soren Kierkegaard

"Talk not of wasted affection, affection never was wasted."

 Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was.

Irish Proverb

"We are punished by our sins, not for them."

Elbert Hubbard

"Everything has been figured out, except how to live."

Jean-Paul Sartre

"The universe if made of stories, not atoms."

Muriel Rukeyser

"He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have."

"No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings."

William Blake

"Easter tells us that life is to be interpreted, not simply in terms of things but in terms of ideals."

Charles M. Crowe

"The story of Easter is the story of Godís wonderful
window of divine surprise."

Carl Knudsen

Had Christ not risen we could not believe Him
to be what He declared Himself
when He "made Himself equal with God."
But He has risen in the confirmation of all His claims.
By it alone, but by it thoroughly,
is He manifested as the very Son of God,
who has come into the world to reconcile the world to Himself.
It is the fundamental fact in the Christian's unwavering
confidence in "all the words of this life."

Benjamin B. Warfield

Easter comes but once a year

Easter comes but once a year
But when it does, we all know its here
Children filling themselves with chocolate
Dad's down the pub for a pint of beer!

We go to the church for the wine and bread
Dad's half asleep, and jerking his head
Baby sister is here too, munching away
On the free easter egg that the Priest gave us today

But remember we must, that the Lord died for us
And ascended into heaven to give us fresh lives
For each and every one of us

Easter Holiday

Easter holiday, is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ!
Jesus Christ, The Son of God, bled and died for us in a sacrifice.

This Spring day's celebrated, generally in the month of April.
All of the bright and pretty colors, of the Easter outfits with frills.

Women and children will wear their Easter bonnets.
In the Spring, you'll hear the various musical sonnets.

April will bring many rain showers.
That'll bring us various beautiful flowers.

One special flower for this day is the Easter Lily.
It's color is white, and yet snowy & milky.

The birds will sing their songs of praise.
As we begin to feel the warmth of the sun's rays.

As we say "Goodbye" to the winter's gloom,
The flowers and trees have already begun to bloom.

All of life's beauty, The Lord created, for us all to share.
Spring breezes begin to flow, sending fragrances through the air.

The winter's thawing will let the rivers, lakes, and streams rise and flow.
The beauty of the Earth will make us all feel aglow!

Farmers and gardeners will start to hoe.
And then they'll begin to sow.

On Sundays, we'll hear the various church bells ring.
Let's be grateful for the LORD, let's rejoice and sing.

If it wasn't for the Lord, we wouldn't have anything!
